Two weeks..

What a busy two weeks its been! Since we last updated, so much has happened.
Immediately following the last post, Dylan began sitting up for good! He quickly figured out that falling hurts, so he stopped that. He also realized the swings are super fun (his first time in the swing he started crying very early on). He puts on his sunglasses, holds the sides of the swing and weeeeee.... Later that week, while Mommy was sick in bed, he had his first ever Frank Family Passover Seder at Grandma & Zayde's house. All the family was there and he got to hang out with everyone of his favorite people. He wore his Searsucker Suit Jacket that Grandma Liz & Dale got him, with a white button down and khaki pants. Following the Passover Seder's, he had a special week with Momma. He also took his cousin Clayton to the Bronx Zoo! The last day of his vacation with Momma was our playgroup meetup - where he proceeded in eating bread and honey dew. He also tried one of his friend Jayde's puffs. Though, his favorite foods seem to be apples with cinnamon or butternut squash with nutmeg.. It was a busy, busy two weeks for him and he enjoyed it all so much!
Since the last post, Josephine has had a lot going on in her days as well! The weekend of the Seder's was when she decided she would also start to sit up! She likes to sit up and play with Lettersaurus (meant for babies much older - 12 months!). Of course, by "play with" I mean eat. She also likes to be put in her crib sitting up so she can see what is happening outside of her little pen. She's been spending a lot of time laughing at her brother, and sleeping while he has fun on the swings. Her first time in the swings resulted in her having the biggest smile I've ever seen on that little face. She loved it so much and has been anxious to get in it again. She took her Aunt Hope to the Bronx Zoo, sharing the car ride with her brother. At the playgroup meeting, she was found by Mommy (in Momma's arms) chowing down on a piece of mango. When Momma moved it away, she grabbed at her arms and pulled the mango back to her mouth. Last that night, while Mommy was eating a salad, Josephine was laying on Momma's legs and was using all of her might to pull to a sitting position so she could watch Mommy eat. Yet, she isn't a fan of banana (unless pureed) or the puffs her friend Jayde shared with her. I think it requires too much chewing and she doesn't want to do more work than necessary. One of her favorite foods has a song written about it - apples and bananas, mixed. Josephine got to hang out with all her cousins (second cousins? first cousins once removed? we just call them cousins!) and have fun fun fun!
Right now the kids are planning their first ever road trip! The plan is that they will direct Mommy and Momma to North Carolina, Florida, back to North Carolina, Kentucky, then home. Since they are having trouble using the computer and paying for the hotels (they don't have jobs!), Mommy and Momma are doing most of the planning and figuring out the details.
Pictures will follow soon..

6 month check-up

The doctor said I am a big, healthy, growing strong boy! I am 26 inches (which is taller than my stinky sister!) and she said I weigh 15 lbs 4 ounces. I'm not really sure what that means, but the doctor smiled at me a LOT. She gave me a stick (I think mommy called it a tongue depressor - but thats too long to say) to play with and when I stuck it in my mouth, she smiled, so I did lots of that. She put some weird disc on my belly and it had a long cord on it that went into her ears. It was silly looking. She didn't let me eat it. I used all my muscle but she took it away from me and said it wasn't something I could have. Mommy gave me back my stick and I was happy. She also said that I can sleep on my belly if I want - thats good because I love to sleep on my belly and do it every night! I sat up tall for the doctor and she said "what a big boy! he's doing great!" She smiled a lot so I think I did good! Then she took my sister and did similar things. My fingers taste good. Then! She had the nerve to put something sharp into my legs! It made me cry, but mommy kept saying I was a big boy and taking it like a champ - whatever that means.
Since my sister is sound asleep, I will tell you what happened with her - even though I matter more.
She was told she is also growing very well. The doctor said that she is 25 1/4 inches and weighs 15 lbs 10 ounces - I think thats shorter but heavier. It's okay. She's cute! My fingers taste good. She took the funny disc and put it on Josephine too. I don't think Josephine understands how tasty that cord probably was! She didn't try to eat it. Josephine didn't like the stick as much as I did. She took the stick and fiddled around with it, and I guess the doctor smiled. I don't know. I was with mommy, playing with my stick. Josephine didn't show off sitting up like I did, but the doctor smiled at her anyway! No fair! Josephine didn't cry as much or as loudly as I did when the doctor stuck a sharp thing into her legs, but mommy still called her a champ. I think mommy just likes to use silly words, like champ.
The doctor said we could start eating REAL food now! Like bananas that aren't put in that big machine and ground real creamy. We can eat whatever our moms are eating! They just have to mash it up a bit and we can chow down! Yum! I am always looking at what they are eating and mmmm I want some of it! Mommy usually pulls the plate away from me when I try to eat her food - not they can't do that because doctor said we should eat it!
Doctor also said that we aren't teething. Mommy and Momma thought I was because, well, I cry alot. Truth it, I just want attention and crying gets it! I don't want teeth yet, so I'll keep them under my gums. My fingers taste good.
This weekend in Passover, or Pesach, depending on how fancy you want to sound. We are going to Grandma and Zayde's house and going to see all the family! I can't wait! I'm going to show off all my new skills like sitting up and eating! Maybe mommy and momma will let me eat some of the stuff that looks yummy - I want it all.
My fingers taste good.

Happy 6 months!

Today marks Josephine & Dylan's 6 month birthday! This time last year, we didn't even know the genders of these munchkins..
To celebrate: some photos!

"Well hello there!"

(If you can't read the post-it, it says "NY Aquarium" with their phone number)
Dylan saying "Take me to the aquarium!" We ended up not going because of the weather.

"I want to go see Uncle Matthew!"
"la la la lalalaaaaa"

"Fine, while you get ready, I'll sit here and wait and read about Paula Deen...
Hmm an agoraphobic? So interesting that Paula Deen!"
The top photo is one of Josephine's "new" shirts. They were bought for the kids before they were born (by our good friend Kathleen), but until now noone fit! Josephine fits well and will be wearing her first "I'm a product of a lesbian family" shirt today to the park. :o)
